My Values

I chose compassion and empathy as my first core values. I believe they are similar because both of these values understand people in different situations than our own. Compassion means that you understand the suffering of others, and you want to be able to help them, in any way you can. Empathy means showing concern and understanding towards another persons feelings in a situation.

I chose humour as my second core value. The ability to laugh and find humour in every day circumstances is very important to me. No matter how hard life has gotten, I have always kept my sense of humour.

I chose creativity as my third core value. Being creative and original in your ideas is very helpful in the CYC field, as you can be more out of the box with your thinking, in regards to coming up with programming activities. It is also helpful in brainstorming ways to interact in meaningful ways with the youth in your care.

I chose life and beauty as my fourth core values. I believe they are similar because both of these values have an appreciation and respect for for all living things. They both see the value and beauty in everything.

I chose recognition as my fifth core value. Being recognized for my accomplishments is very important to me because there have been times in my life where I have not felt important or valued in what I have done. I strive every day to make a better life for my children and I, so being recognized and congratulated is important to me as an individual.
